Assistant Director for Annual Giving

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director for Annual Giving solicits alumni and friends of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) who have the capacity to make gifts to SEAS at the Dean's Leadership Society recognition levels ($1,000+). Columbia Engineering offers a fast-paced work environment with aggressive multi-year growth targets. The incumbent will work with alumni from a specific range of graduation years, with special emphasis on classes in their reunion year within that range. Other prospects and projects will be assigned as appropriate. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Manages a portfolio of 300 prospects; 
  • Completes a minimum of 200 solicitations of $1,000+ each year; 
  • Executes a minimum of 150 substantive contacts with alumni and friends annually; 
  • Develops and implements a detailed fundraising plan for reunion year classes including goal setting, gift pyramids, giving analysis, and individual solicitation strategies; 
  • Manages volunteer solicitors to raise gifts from key populations, especially reunion classes. This includes recruiting reunion class committee members, and organizing committee meetings, and managing the committee's volunteer solicitations; 
  • Advocates for gift planning vehicles and executes gift planning solicitations in collaboration with appropriate colleagues; 
  • Ensures all assigned prospects are stewarded effectively and regularly;
