Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth ( is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead our 132-year agency with a successful history of service and advocacy for children and families.  We seek a dynamic, visionary leader that demonstrates a deep understanding of the ever changing industry and governmental challenges of the child welfare field.  In prior positions, the ideal candidate will have significant experience in change management, business development and fundraising, strategic planning, a solid financial acumen, and the innate ability to advocate and communicate on behalf of the Agency and the child welfare community.

Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth (BFC) continues to be a critical statewide leader in the field of child welfare in New York State serving 8,500 children and their families yearly in our statewide, community-based programs. Berkshire currently provides the following services:  foster care, group homes, family preservation and reunification, truancy and crisis prevention, non- secure and secure detention, residential treatment center & special act public school, care coordination and transition to managed care services across 45 counties in New York State.  Headquartered in Canaan, NY on a 2,000-acre campus, Berkshire also operates 19 regional offices.  

BFC has a strong balance sheet and an operating budget of nearly $50 million, and employees over 600 employees statewide.  The majority of BFC’s revenue comes from contracts with  counties and various New York State agencies, including the Department of Health, OASAS, and the Office for Children and Family Services.  BFC also receives funding from corporations, foundations, private grants, and donations.

This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional leader with experience partnering with government agencies, national & state associations, policymakers, and grant-making foundations to lead a strong senior management team in a complex, multi-site institution known and respected for the tremendous impact it has on the lives of at-risk children and families.
