Chief Financial Officer

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee financial strategy and long-term budgetary planning and costs management for the alignment with the organization’s strategic plan and service lines.

  • Provide ongoing organizational performance assessment with the annual budget and long term budget needs. Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the executive leadership team and Board of Directors to make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.

  • Engage the Board as the lead staff around issues, trends, and changes in the financial model(s) and operational impacts that address short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections.

  • Develop and implement financial business plans, forecasts, and yearly objectives for the organization.

  • Oversee the Central Billing Office

  • Work with Managed Care Organizations (MCO) and manage the MCO contracts

  • Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, auditors, public officials, etc.

  • Oversee the Fiscal Department’s accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements. Remain up to date on best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.

  • Maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.

  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal annual and monthly reporting activities for the organization including: organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, tax reports, and development and monitoring of organizational reports for government regulatory agencies.

  • Manage cash flow and forecasting.

  • Supervise the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash, asset, and investment positions as required. Participate in selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).

  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.

 

  • Effectively lead the finance team by coaching, mentoring and developing staff around managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.

 

The qualifications we seek in the Chief Financial Officer will include the following experience and attributes:

 

  • BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA highly preferred, and with an advanced degree in Business or Finance desirable.
  • At least five years of experience in a Finance leadership in a healthcare position or equivalent is preferably with a budget of at least $40 million.
  • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of financial management strategies.
  • Significant experience in or knowledge of healthcare accounting, respective regulation knowledge, compliance, and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, communicate and develop all levels of the organization including staff at remote locations.
  • Strong experience and proven success in business development and analysis.
  • Outstanding leadership, planning, communication, and business competencies

  • Strong problem solving with the ability to exercise sound judgment

  • Experience making board level presentations.

  • Outstanding work ethic and commitment.
