Corporate Relations Manager

The Corporate Relations Manager will create and implement a strategy to solicit and secure corporate sponsorships to support Los Angeles LGBT Center (Center) programing in the changing landscape of corporate philanthropy.  They will steward and grow the Center portfolio of corporate unrestricted and restricted gifts and event sponsorships.   The revenue goal for this position is $1M for FY’18.



1) Create an annual plan for approaching corporations on a variety of levels including volunteer programs, pro-bono opportunities, affinity marketing plans, and other avenues of engagement;

2) Within the overall plan include sponsorship opportunities in the Center's major events including the Anniversary Gala, An Evening With Women, Simply diVine!, The Garden Party and other small events according to the organization's yearly development plan;

3) Create marketing packages to position the agency, its access to the gay and lesbian market, and its events as an attractive and effective use for corporate marketing dollars;

4) Develop a strategy for cultivating existing and potential sponsors and informing them on a regular basis of activities associated with the Center's activities and achievements;

5) Work with Event Committees to identify corporate sponsors and to organize activities to involve Event Committees in appropriate corporate sponsor asks;  

6) In conjunction with the Director of Special Events and, if appropriate, designated event firms, ensure that sponsorship recognition and other benefits are fulfilled and that special needs of sponsors are addressed before, during and after events;

7) Investigate opportunities for cause-related marketing opportunities, and make recommendations for possible joint ventures; 

8) Participate in various community networking activities and associations with the goal of educating corporate entities about the Center and encouraging corporate and cause-related sponsorship and marketing opportunities;

9) Ensure that corporate sponsorship and cause-related marketing opportunities adhere to Center policies and procedures;

10) Ensure the development, maintenance, and updating of files and data bases related to corporate sponsorship and cause related marketing, including the appropriate inputting and coding of gifts and pledges into the donor data base system;

11) Work with the Director of Foundation/Institution Relations to target and assess Corporate Foundation opportunities;

12) Responsible for recruiting, selecting, developing, mentoring and coaching staff and inspiring and motivating individual and team performance;

13) Track and document all contacts and actions in Raiser’s Edge;

14) Meet with the Annual Giving staff to target any potential personal donor opportunities among our corporate supporters;

15) Participate in staff meetings, development department management team meetings, planning meetings and other meetings as needed;

16) Assist in addressing basic graphic design needs of the department;

17) Other duties as assigned;



1) Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people;

2) A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people;

3) 5 years of marketing, events management, corporate sales or related experience;

4) Superior program and project management experience, demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented atmosphere;

5) Computer skills and knowledge including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems;

6) Experience in producing superior presentation materials, and making corporate sponsorship presentations;

7) A proven concern for detail, organization, and timely follow-through, including superior oral/ written communication skills;

8) Demonstrated project management skills, including facility in managing projects with multiple and often competing deadlines, and ability to work under pressure;

9) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills;

10) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration statuses, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
