SUMMARY

The Director of Facilities is responsible for all facilities management operations including procedures for maintenance repairs and work orders, systems for effective oversight, capital projects, safety related trainings, leases and contracts, supervision of an Assistant Director of Facilities and his or her subordinate staff. The Director of Facilities also ensure that all building and security compliance related to licensing and accreditation are met.

PRIMARY DUTIES

The Director of Facilities provides facilities management that includes:

  • Monitoring major facility related issues;
  • Approval for contractor related work and purchases;
  • Approval and review of monthly expenditures;
  • Contract negotiations and approval;
  • Collaboration with Directors on performance;
  • Bi- weekly, joint supervision of facility staff with Program Directors.
  • Hiring, disciplined, evaluating and terminating facility staff.
  • Conducting facility walk-throughs;
  • Assessing maintenance and security issues;
  • Identifying contractors; and
  • Evaluating and signing off on work;
  • Directs all aspects of regulatory compliance for facilities applicable to building safetycodes to include valid licensing and certificates for elevators, fire extinguishers, hoodsystems, health department and fire marshal inspections.
  • Assists Senior Directors in developing and updating emergency preparedness plans.
  • Coordinates and monitors the status of work orders and preventative maintenancethrough a systematic approach.
  • Participates, implements, and reports on the facility and security section of the SVDPStrategic Plan and is responsible for developing the future of this function for futuregrowth and development.
  • Assists HR President and CEO in coordinating capital improvement projects andforecasting future facility improvement plans.
  • Negotiates and overseeing all facilities and security contracts and leases.
  • Plans, develops and prioritizes projects, schedule appropriate contractor according toneeded repairs.
  • Act as the project manager for construction and re-modeling projects.
  • Writes Request for Bids for construction and/or renovation projects.
  • Manages financial resources with efficiency and fiscal responsibility including but notlimited to recommending facilities and security budgets, evaluating monthlyexpenditure reports, negotiating fiscally responsible leases and contract and makingfiscally sound decisions when prioritizing work.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Acts as the lead of the Safety and Security Performance Management Committee.
  • Monitors emergencies and threats within proximity of SVDP facilities.
  • Train and certify staff in safety related trainings as deemed appropriate by Human Resources.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Upholds the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
  • On-Call responsibility for facility related emergencies.
  • Assists with and attend special events held by St. Vincent de Paul.
  • Attends, and as necessary represents St Vincent de Paul in external meetings and events.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in facility management, construction and engineering preferred.
  • Three (3) years of facility management
  • One (1) year of experience managing safety and security.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skills in budget management strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of facility As-Builts, blueprints and floor plans
  • Desire and ability to work as a team player.
  • Require a car and the ability to travel to meetings and SVDP facilities.
  • Skills in client crisis response preferred.
  • A Valid driver license is required.

Type of work:
_____SEDENTARY WORK: Lifting 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying small articles and occasional walking and standing.
_____LIGHT WORK: Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. It involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing/pulling of arm/or leg controls.
__X___MEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
_____HEAVY WORK: Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects no more than 50 pounds.
