Director of Development

SUMMARY

One To World, a NYC-based non-profit, is looking for a Director of Development to build on a 40 year foundation and help position the organization for its next 40 years. At a time when global understanding, increased dialogue and developing open-minded leaders for the future is so crucial, One To World is positioned to have an expanded impact on our communities. The organization has just completed a new three-year Strategic Plan and needs a high performing development professional who can be a thought partner with the Executive Director in growing and diversifying revenue sources which will enable the successful implementation of this plan. The Director will lead a team consisting of a full-time development coordinator, seasoned gala consultant, and an intern to design and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan including major gifts, annual appeals, planned giving, corporate and foundation grants and an annual gala. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, nimble go-getter looking to build and expand support for a dynamic organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

·            Be passionate about the mission of One To World

·            Show a solid track record in successful grant-writing from various foundations and/or corporations

·            Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, including major gift fundraising and benefit dinners

·            Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls

·            Creative, sense of humor, “can-do” attitude, and strategic thinker

·            Possess avid attention to detail, be organized and exhibit follow through on tasks and goals

·            Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff

·            Have at least five years of development experience in a non-profit setting

·            Excellent interpersonal/communication skills (cross-cultural sensitivity a must)

·            Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s an asset)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

I.           Foundation/Corporate Grants

a.        Lead foundation and corporate grant outreach, including research, cultivation and stewardship.

b.       Write and submit foundation proposals and reports.

 

II.         Individual Giving and Donor Cultivation

a.        Create and maintain a major gifts program through donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

b.       Work with Executive Director in recruiting, supporting, and stewarding the Board of Directors.

c.        Oversee creation, preparation and mailings of a minimum of two individual giving appeals a year along with online equivalents.

d.       Oversee new planned giving program.

 

III.       Annual Benefit Event

a.        In partnership with a seasoned gala consultant, organize all aspects of highly successful annual benefit dinner.

 

IV.       Data Management

a.        Ensure that donor information is inputted accurately and consistently in database (Raiser’s Edge).

b.       Design regular reports to manage progress against goals.

 

V.         Other duties

a.        Additional related duties as requested by the Executive Director.
