### Summary

This position is located in Communications and External Affairs. The Editorial Director works with the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) Director and senior management in planning the overarching vision that comprises all the agency's external content and supervises a team writer/editors.

### Responsibilities

Incumbent of this position serves as editor and lead writer for U.S. Agency for Global Media (U.S.A.G.M.) and works closely with the Office of Public Affairs Director and senior management in planning the overarching vision that comprises all of the agency's external content. Duties include:

* Serves as chief speech writer and editor for BBG's executives and senior level officials;
* Provides editorial oversight and support on all major external communication materials to ensure consistent, high-quality and strategically-aligned messaging;
* Develops executive communications (speeches, testimony, presentations, round tables, etc.) for senior level BBG officials;
* Develops content that explains important and complex policies to key audiences including Capitol Hill, industry leaders, and the general public;
* Serves as a strategic resource to the OPA Director in developing and driving the agency thought leadership strategy;
* Serves as a technical expert on written and editorial policy;
* Builds and maintains close working relationships with network writers, social media and web development teams to conceive and develop appropriate materials to convey key messages to target audiences; and
* Supervises subordinates on staff.

* This position has been designated supervisory requiring that the selectee on an initial appointment as a supervisor or manager serve a one-year probationary period.

### Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
* Demonstrated experience as primary speech writer for a CEO or Agency leadership;
* Comprehensive experience as a senior writer/editor within a corporate, nonprofit, public relations agency, or in a federal agency;
* Experience developing executive communications such as speeches, testimony, presentations for senior level officials;
* Experience as an expert writing and defining corporate messaging for diverse audiences;
* Project management experience;
* Experience providing the full range of supervisory oversight of staff.

### Education

Applicant cannot substitute education for experience.

### Additional information

1. If you are an eligible Inter agency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) applicant you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, displaced Federal employees must be rated at 85 or above on the rating criteria for this position. 3. If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/59 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency.
4. If selected you will subject to a security investigation to establish your suitability for federal employment.
5. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
