The incumbent will bring together and direct the banks corporate social responsibility programs, charitable giving (including the Santander Bank Foundation) and community activities. Will work closely with compliance to assure all Santander activities are aligned with regulatory expectations to achieve an outstanding rating. The incumbent will also act as lead member for quarterly meetings of the banks CSR committee. He/she will be responsible for designing and implementing processes, working with the relevant business and support units, setting policies for the banks charitable giving, volunteer programs and other community activities. The incumbent will assist in the development and implementation of communications and programs to ensure market and internal awareness of the products and services available to community development target groups, including the annual CSR report. Acts as a liaison with state and local agencies, non-profit development groups, and other participants in housing, community and economic development programs or projects. Will represent Santander US in Santander group CSR and sustainability committees. Combines a passion for community development activities with a strong knowledge of regulations and the ability to think strategically.


  • Work closely with CRA compliance area to assure that all CSR/CSA activities are compliant with regulatory expectations and accounted for in CSA reporting;

  • Manage regional community affairs team members to clear objectives and performance expectations; responsible for all aspects of the team member life cycle including recruitment, performance and development;

  • Draft annual plans and provide updates in the relevant Santander Bank and Group committees;

  • Manage the Santander Foundation grants, governance, budget and activities;

  • Define and implement CSR procedures and policies on charitable giving, volunteerism and community development;

  • Together with communications teams and marketing, will assure CSR activities, products and services are known and understood in a way that promotes the Banks and business lines image.



Bachelors or Equivalent

At least 10 years’ business experience, with 3 years’ minimum in implementing CRA/community development related strategies or initiatives.


  • Strong analytical and out-of-the-box thinking skills;

  • Project Management skills;

  • Ability to manage and coach team to clear objectives and performance expectations; monitor and improve team efficiency and impact;

  • Excellent policy-setting, problem-solving and decision-making skills;

  • Ability to manage a large budget and exercise fiscal responsibilities

  • Leadership experience in areas focused on gaining community commitment, community relations, and community reinvestment;

  • Ability to maintain network of peers across the banking industry and keep pace with regulatory trends;

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to provide strategic leadership skills both internally and within the community;

  • Exceptional collaboration and partnering skills and knowledge of corporate philanthropy, community involvement trends, and best practices.
