Executive Director

Here’s your opportunity to make a difference at an educational setting serving children with autism and other developmental disabilities with a team dedicated to the mission of enhancing the lives of these children and their families. Matthew’s Center seeks a dynamic leader to become its next Executive Director. Come lead a talented team at this private non-profit school for children ages 5 to 21 that employs the latest Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) principles and strategies to meet the needs of the students. Located in Manassas, VA within easy commuting distance from Washington, DC, the Matthew’s Center serves children from Central to Northern Virginia.

The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive officer of the corporation, serving under the direction of the Board of Directors and its chairman. The ED establishes and maintains management systems to ensure profitable, effective and efficient operation of the corporation. The ED carries out the policies of the corporation, manages its programs in consultation with the Board and maintains good community public relations. The ED is responsible for revenue-generation, staff and student development and the disbursement of funds within parameters established by the Board.

  • A team player who expresses genuine interest in the team’s well-being, and proactively models organizational customs, beliefs, and values.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and a variety of stakeholders and audiences. Seeks to embody Matthew's Centers values around diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Ability to convey a vision of Matthew’s Center’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, public speaking ability is a must.
