Executive Director, Mayor’s Fund for Philadelphia

Job Description
 

This position plays the leading role in delivering on the mission of the Mayor’s Fund for Philadelphia, ensuring mission-focused leadership to achieve and maintain excellence in the Fund’s core financial administration role. The Executive Director serves as the principal officer of the Fund, working collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure excellence in operations, implement policy and develop strong relationships with City leadership, local policymakers, and the philanthropic and nonprofit communities.

The Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, including: policy oversight, financial direction, strategic leadership, board relations, and internal and external relationship management.

Please note: the Board intends for the Executive Director to focus their full time and attention to the Mayor’s Fund. It shall require that the Executive Director does not engage in additional employment as a consultant or similar paid, external activities.

Specific duties include:

  • Lead with transparency and openness in the work of fiscal administration. Develop, supervise and communicate the Fund’s fiscal strategy and operations.
  • Provide policy oversight for grants administration and supervise all staff, so that grants and contracts administered by the Fund are effectively managed and efficiently reported.
  • Lead the Fund in current, effective practices and policies relating to management of a non-profit organization.
  • Continue the improvement of the Fund's fiscal administration role by developing, updating and implementing policies, process improvements and quality control to ensure the Fund operates with the best nonprofit practices.
  • Represent the Fund to external constituencies, including the media.
  • Provide executive direction and support to the Fund’s staff, funders, grantees, and Board Members to ensure the efficient and seamless operation of the Fund.
  • Implement Fund strategy to support the Mayor’s Policy Pillars, in collaboration with the Fund’s Board of Directors and in coordination with the Mayor’s Office of Grants.
  • Provide high-level operational and strategic support to the Fund's Board of Directors.

 

Qualifications
 

Knowledge and Personal Skills:

  • Demonstrated nonprofit administration experience including fundamental understanding of effective nonprofit management practices; a working knowledge of City government; and experience with the philanthropic sector in Philadelphia a plus.
  • Experience in managing a fiscal agency, or commensurate experience in financial administration in a nonprofit context, such as evidence of success in creating the analytic framework for planning and management of a fiscal agency.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of grant administration and compliance practices.
  • A strong service orientation and engagement skills to guide interactions with senior policymakers, public and philanthropic leaders, and community members.
  • Skilled as a transparent and open leader.
  • Highest ethical and fiduciary standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills to work effectively with various officials, staff, residents, community leaders, and board members.


Additional Information
 

Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000
