Toomey Residential and Community Services is a human services agency specializing in person-centered, family focused services for individuals and families with intellectual/physical disabilities, mental health challenges, and children in foster care placement, including children who are Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. Toomey Residential strives to empower those served to achieve their highest level of capability, and increase their opportunities for future success.


Role and Responsibilities

Responsible to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director effectively leads, directs and manages the strategic direction, program, and administrative operations of Toomey Residential and Community Services in a manner consistent with agency mission/values, maintains fiscal viability and addresses the needs of the individuals we serve.  


Areas of strategic planning and oversight include agency growth, sustainability, service delivery, Financial Operations, Program Operations, Corporate Compliance, Quality Improvement, Human Resources, Board relationships, supervision of leadership staff, Community Relations and Fundraising. The Executive Director of Toomey Residential also participates as a member of the Catholic Charities of Onondaga County Senior Management Team, and works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Catholic Charities.



Master’s degree in nonprofit administration, business, social work or related field with eight or more years in a nonprofit leadership role, or similar organization is required. Experience in program development and operations related to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, foster care systems, organizational development and NYS funding sources and systems is preferred.



Toomey Residential is seeking an adept leader who values and practices strategic planning and foresight, thinks proactively, is prone to action, and understands the importance of, and possesses the ability to build relationships and promote agency services within the Central NY community. In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will possess negotiation, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with functional ability in the use of IT tools and strategies related to program administration, including email, and Microsoft tools.
