Trips for Kids Denver Metro is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to positive youth development by using the bicycle as a tool to get underserved Denver Metro youth outdoors and active.

With a focus on equitable access to the outdoors and STEM bicycle programming, Trips for Kids Denver Metro aims to foster opportunities to participate in all levels of programming by providing; a STEM infused Learn to Earn a bike curriculum, Youth Ride program, Youth@Work paid internships , it’s community bike shop, the Lucky Bikes Recyclery; and serve as a stable, sustainable organization that grows and strengthens the cycling community for underserved youth in the Denver Metro area.

Trips for Kids Denver Metro is run by a full-time Executive Director, advisory Board of Directors, 2-3 full-time staff and 7-9 part-time, seasonal staff.  The Executive Director will use the current 5-year strategic plan provided by the board, direct the day to day operations, and manages the staff. TFKDM have seen steady growth since starting in 2004 and are on sound financial footing, and ready to take the organization to the next level by hiring a strategic thinker who has passion for the cycling industry.

The broad parameters we foresee include: a full-time position with benefits to be determined; and a competitive salary. The specific parameters of compensation will be developed in partnership with the right candidate, and can range from salaried with benefits, paid time off and educational/certificate opportunities.

 

Areas of Responsibility

These will be determined and negotiated with the successful candidate. The scope of responsibilities may include:

  • Implementing, managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the organization, including:
    • Acting upon the direction of the Board, including regular communication and attendance at monthly meetings;
    • Overseeing program operations, including: Ride, Learn to Earn, Youth@Work, etc;
    • Following and improving on procedures for financial transactions and budgeting process;
    • Being a liaison between sponsors, funders, program partners and National TFK organization;
    • Overseeing organizational communications
  • Work closely with fundraising, programming committee and development consultant to secure and enhance revenue sources such as diverse donors and program partnerships;
  • Leveraging volunteers and developing resources throughout the cycling community.
  • Helping to define the position itself and to create or to grow existing income-producing programs.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Education/Training:  Bachelor’s degree, advanced degrees, or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years executive management experience
  • Work experience in running or managing youth-based operations
  • Excellent organizational and inter-personal skills
  • Proven personal traits of responsibility, initiative, dedication and creativity
  • Able to pass background check and lift up to 25lbs

Compensation/Benefits

The specific parameters of compensation will be developed in partnership with the right candidate and can range from salaried with benefits, to paid time off, to nonprofit educational assistance.
