Executive Director

The United Passaic Organization is the official Community Action Agency a non- profit serving the citizens of the City of Passaic, New Jersey. The United Passaic Organization (U.P.O.) is seeking an Executive Director for the agency. The United Passaic Organization Agency founded in 1981, has developed a strong track record of service in terms of homelessness prevention, temporary homeless sheltering, emergency food assistance, utility assistance, family literacy, job training, after-school mentoring and academic tutorial and recreational assistance. In addition, the agency provides limited immigration services; an annual community health fair and partners with various community agencies in various initiatives that are designed to meet a community need of common concern. 

Job Description Overview 

The Executive Director oversees the development and implementation of the Organization's Strategic Plans in accordance to its mission and vision, directs all internal and external operations, is accountable for the implementation of the strategic plan, fund-raising activities, financial management, to search for and submission of grant applications, risk management and program design and general management. This position reports directly to the U.P.O. Board of Directors. 

Major Responsibilities - Outreach and Advocacy

Build relations and collaborate with partners in alliance with the mission of the U.P.O. Agency. 

· 
Engage with decision- makers at the local, county and state levels 

· 
Advance the mission and vision of U.P.O. through public speaking forums and community outreach

Leadership and Management 

· Foster effective team work between the Board and the Executive Director and between the Executive Director and staff. 

· Oversee programs and conduct on-going program evaluations to measure success 

Operational Planning and Management

  • Develops an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization
  • Community Relations/Advocacy 

    · 
    Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organization and to identify changes in the community served by the organization 

    · 
    Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization

Professional Qualifications The successful candidate must have: 

· 
a minimum of 3-5 years of managerial experience in managing a non-profit organization or a related field of experience; a minimum of a BA/BS Degree, (Master Degree preferred) in Business, Management, Public Administration or some other related work experience 

Salary The salary is competitive and commensurate with work experience and education
