World Savvy is launching a search for its inaugural Bay Area Executive Director (BAED) to lead the fundraising, program partnership recruitment, and community engagement functions of our flagship region. We are looking for an engaging and inspiring leader - a seasoned fundraiser and go-getter, who has a strong track record of building lasting, authentic relationships with funders, corporate champions, and educational leaders in the service of advancing an educational cause.

 

Summary:

We’re looking for a dynamic leader who is energetic, positive, and brings a global mindset to our team in San Francisco. This leader will be mission-aligned and ready to advocate for the organization to prospective funders and school and district partners. The Bay Area ED will be the first in a new regional growth strategy for World Savvy and will be the leader of our flagship region, which started in 2002. The leader will grow our region and be responsible for fundraising revenue of approximately $500,000, recruitment of schools and partners to drive our local earned income strategy, as well as be the external voice and face for World Savvy in the local community.

 

Schedule: Full time, limited nights and weekends as required by program.

Salary range: $100,000-120,000 based on experience

Projected Start Date: November 1st

Qualified Candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Have a social entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to social justice

  • Proven track record of nonprofit leadership between 5-10 years.

  • At least 7 years of formal fundraising and development experience in nonprofits, including experience with grant writing and securing major individual gifts.

  • Interest in global education and international issues

  • Strong presentation and written communication skills; clear and professional demeanor

  • Proven ability to use educational technology and virtual tools to solve problems and work with others

  • Excellent relationship skills; ability to work effectively in a small and collaborative team environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Solution-oriented approach, with excellent time management and organizational skills; strong attention to detail.

  • Experience documenting fundraising work in a CRM (ex. Salesforce.com).

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

  • Can work in a space of ambiguity.

 

Responsibilities of the BAED (but are not limited to):

  • Lead efforts to create a regional self-sustainable fiscal in the state of California, through Institutional and Individual giving. Leverage existing relationships in philanthropy and education to grow the regional strategy.

  • Lead and deliver on recruitment efforts to meet organizational goals for program participation.

  • Educate and motivate community members and educators to support World Savvy’s mission and vision.

  • Be the external face and voice for World Savvy in local and statewide platforms.

  • Establish and maintain California-focused networks of educators and school/district administrators, and identify and leverage World Savvy champions in fundraising and partnership efforts.

  • Maintain a positive working culture in the San Francisco office that is in step with World Savvy’s Cultural Values and Norms (see below).

  • Deepen our fundraising capacity to ensure that World Savvy is recognized as an impactful part of the educational fabric of the Bay Area community.

  • Partner with the inaugural regional advisory board who will help guide the our regional voice presence, and extend outreach in via their personal and professional networks.

  • Drive World Savvy’s organizational strategy by actively participating as a member of World Savvy’s Leadership Team.
