HR Manager


Mountain View, CA, USA

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for all HR-related duties for approximately 30 staffers, plus 150+ faculty, within our non-profit organization. This position requires the ability to work effectively with a high degree of independence and with a high-level of critical thinking. Position responsibilities include overseeing all HR systems and compliance; benefits managements; partnering with managers to recruit and on-board new staff and faculty; supporting a positive culture and designing employee recognition programs; and maintaining best practices in all HR policies and practices.

Support a positive and constructive culture and work environment.
Develop, recommend and implement HR policies and procedures; maintain and regularly update the employee handbook to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and best practices.
Manage competitive employee benefits programs; conduct educational sessions on benefit programs for new hires and during open enrollment, manage all renewals and enrollments.
Support hiring managers by leading all recruitment efforts, interviewing and on-boarding activities; assist managers with candidate screening and selection; conduct and analyze trends from stay-interviews and exit interviews.
Develop and manage a robust and creative employee recognition program.
Provide managers with the necessary training and tools for effective employee performance reviews, professional development and improvement plans.
Partner closely with managers and the Executive Director on employee relation (ER) issues. Provide Employee Relation (ER) training to all managers to ensure ER issues are addressed and documented in a timely and constructive manner.
Lead upgrades to payroll and HR systems.
Support the bi-weekly payroll.
Ensure legal compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Maintain employee files, information and records with high degree of confidentiality.

Bachelor's degree in social science, business or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR with experience or an understanding of non-profit environments
Experience managing benefits
Proficiency with ADP
Experience submitting annual reports, e.g. ACA, Discrimination Testing. Experience with administration of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPPA and OSHA
Ability to work independently and with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Attention to detail and a high-level of follow-through is essential
Excellent verbal, written and communication skills with a customer service-orientation
Strong project and time management skills
Commitment to the arts and to creating a positive and creative culture and work environment
