REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Individual Gifts

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION: Competitive

 POSITION SUMMARY

 

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Individual Gifts, this position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a prospect pool of donors and prospects for annual fund gifts ranging from $2,500 to $15,000. This position is also responsible for the management of this same prospect pool for the planned giving program. Other duties include administering all Christensen Society benefits, planning of various Christensen Society events and coordinating with the Membership Manager to identify and upgrade prospects from the membership pool into the Christensen Society.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Through written, verbal, and in-person communication with donors and internal staff, assists the Working with the Individual Group, develops and implements a fundraising plan including direct solicitation that meets annual fundraising and endowment goals with an emphasis on donor retention and donation upgrade strategies. Using sound fundraising principles, including effective donor stewardship, implements strategies that are intended to move prospects through stages of deepening commitment necessary to make a gift of $2,500 to $15,000 to the annual fund. Attendance of performances and special events is required.
  • Actively participates in the fulfillment of Christensen Society benefits and stewardship, including the planning and execution of donor events, working closely with vendors and staff to ensure smooth and successful implementation. Develops and oversees mass communications with Christensen Society members, including the annual Welcome to the Season mailing and event invitations. Responsibilities also include delivering welcome communications to new Christensen Society members.
  • Serves as the liaison with the Senior Manager, Membership, to pursue prospects identified as Christensen Society candidates from the membership pool using stewardship, research and data analysis tools. Oversees Christensen Society prospect communications and strategy.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned by the supervisor.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience

 

  • College degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of direct solicitation fundraising experience and event management
  • Administration experience within a major arts and culture institution (preferred)
  • Knowledge of/experience with ballet (preferred)Knowledge of ballet/performing arts preferred.

Technical/Professional Competencies

 

  • Effectively demonstrates a consistent and sustained commitment to Lean Ops practices through the active pursuit of the elimination of waste from every process with the ultimate goal of providing world-class quality, delivery, and service at the lowest possible cost. Regularly participates in the organization's Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Implements successful fundraising plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors for annual fund gifts and endowment gifts.
  • Consistently plans and participates in events that bring prospects and donors closer to the Ballet.
  • Successfully identifies and solicits individual gifts of $2,000 to $15, 000 to the annual fund.
  • Represents the Ballet at all times with the highest degree of professionalism and communicates the Ballet's position on sensitive issues without losing the donor's goodwill. Attends performances and events as needed.
  • Attends meetings with donors and prospects.
  • Maintains documentation, files and tracking of donor contacts, gifts, and stewardship activities.
  • Maintains effective communication with others, both internally and externally.
  • Utilizes and maintains up to date knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation as well as fundraising software.

Physical Demands

  • Position requires periods of word-processing and database usage and also flexible schedule to attend various donor-related events, meeting and performances during the season.

 

Special Equipment Used

  • Current Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, Tessitura (database management software), PC and standard office equipment, such as fax and copier and Internet
