Individual Giving Director

Job Summary

The Individual Giving Director is responsible for growing an individual giving program by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding the organizations individual donors - both directly and through the leadership team and Board of Directors. The Director will contribute to the growth and achievement of fundraising targets for individual donors through major and planned giving.

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Masters degree preferred in business administration, organizational leadership, non-profit management or related field.

Clearances: Act 73 FBI*Act 34 Criminal Clearance*Act 33 Child Clearance

**Clearances must be obtained within 30 days of hire in order to continue active employment.

Training and Experience: Three to five years of fundraising experience working directly with major and planned giving donors required. Campaign experience preferred. Proven success in creating and implementing strategic face-to-face individual fundraising of 5-figure gifts and above.

ABILITIES NEEDED: Exemplary professional skills, analytical capabilities and strong work ethic. High level of organization, flexibility and problem solving. Ability to prioritize tasks independently and proactively. Strong communication and written skills are required along with public speaking skills. Able to maintain accountability, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and operate independently while functioning as part of a cooperative and coordinated team. Ability to work well with people at all levels within an organization and to develop relationships with diverse constituencies. Inspiring and motivating manager. Must be committed to the mission and strategic direction of The Childrens Institute of Pittsburgh.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:Ability and means to travel to external appointments on a flexible schedule as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Manage the organizations most important individual donor relationships, working closely with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, ensuring timely moves management, effective donor relationship building and strategic solicitations. 
Directly grow, steward and solicit a portfolio of individual donors and prospects for both major and planned gifts with metric driven goals for monthly visits and asks.
Participate in annual strategy and budget discussions as they relate to individual fundraising including the annual fund.
Lead individual prospecting efforts to attract new donors, particularly those capable of making gifts at the $25K level and above. 
Create and lead an events strategy as it relates to building this constituency including donor societies. 
Direct the planning and implementation of an effective planned giving program including assessing current efforts. Recommend and implement additional strategies and tactics to increase planned gifts. 
Manage development operations as they relate to individual donors, which includes all annual fund activities. 
Provide support to the President and CEO and Vice President of Institutional Advancementincluding scheduling meetings and preparing research profiles.
Engage the President and CEO, board members, development team and program staff in donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
Maintain comprehensive records in the IA database relating to all individual prospects and donors.
Contribute to key development reports including Advancements, a bi-monthly newsletter for the Board and management team.
Create personalized impact reports and other stewardship materials for donors.
Maintain confidentiality pertaining to client, administrative and donor information.
Make recommendations for new, innovative fundraising strategies to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement by staying current with issues and trends in development.
Participates in other Institutional Advancement department activities as requested and contributes to the overall team effort in a spirit of cooperation.
