Manager of Institutional Giving

The Manager of Institutional Giving will grow a portfolio of funders through research, cultivation, proposal submissions, site visits, and reporting. This work will help achieve the agency’s annual and long-term fund-raising goals. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional and persuasive writer, excel at both internal and external communications, be highly organized, and be able to effectively communicate the agency’s philosophy of care and mission. 

Duties:• Understanding the full range of programs offered by 
Liberation and conveying the agency’s needs and priorities 
to a range of institutional funders. 
• Conducting the full range of activities required to prepare 
and submit grant proposals to foundation, corporate, civic, 
religious, and government sources.
• Closely monitoring the agency’s grants calendar for 
upcoming proposals and/or reports.
• Conducting research into viable new prospects and 
working with CDO to identify and activate the best 
strategy for each identified prospect, folding them into the 
agency grants calendar. 
• Serving as a member of a strategic team focused on 
expanding the agency’s private fundraising. 
• Collaborate with Program and Finance Departments to 
gather information and develop budgets for grant 
proposals.
• Pull client data for grant reporting and work with Chief 
Operating Officer and/or Chief Program Officer to interpret 
the data.
• Submit all grant reporting as required. 
• Provide stewardship to current donors, including work with 
Chief Development Officer to provide regular written 
updates (newsletters, etc.) to corporate and foundation 
donors.
• Make appointments for Chief Development Officer and 
President & CEO with current funders and prospects for 
meetings and/or site visits.
• Maintain current records in database, electronic files, and 
the agency’s grants calendar. 
• Work with the Director of Marketing and Volunteer 
Engagement to ensure successful engagement of 
volunteers from institutional funders and prospects. 
• Assist with other development and marketing efforts as 
requested.

organizations.
• Timely reporting and enhanced donor relations.
• Increased number of prospects and enhanced prospecting 
actions.
• Maintain current funding.Qualifications:Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong written communication skills; demonstrated 
ability 
to write clear, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
• Strong editing skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of grantor information sources.
• Experience with proposal writing and institutional 
donors.
• Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and 
strategies.
• Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for 
fundraising prospect research.


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years 
experience with proposal writing.
• At least two years experience working in a non-profit.
• Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
• Able to work well in a team environment, handle 
multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
• Able to monitor and meet income goals.
• Ability to manage up as well as laterally.
