Senior Grant Writer

Responsibilities

OBJECTIVE: To research foundation and government grant opportunities and develop successful grant applications in support of Corporate and Division needs. 
  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE: 
  
• Project manages, write and submit grant proposals and supporting

  documents for foundation, corporation and government funding in support of

  the Corporate Office and operations. 
• Conduct prospect research on public and private funding opportunities at the

  local, state, and national level. 
• Build and maintain a database of prospective grantors. 
• Plan, prepare and deliver grant writing workshops. 
• Provide grant technical support to Grant Writers and other CHS staff. 
• Develop a master organizational strategic grant writing plan with clear goals,

  plans of action and timelines. 
• Create informed, timely decision papers to guide management decisions on

  grant opportunities. 
• Maintain effective, positive relationships through frequent communication

  with prospective and current grantors. 
• Participate in grant technical training provided by funding agencies. 
• Keep abreast of the changing grant landscape and proposal guidelines. 
• Keep CHS management apprised of projected, pending and submitted grant

  proposals. 
• Confirm compliance and meet reporting requirements for existing grants. 
• Participate in grant pre-bid conferences. 
• Assist with special projects as needed. 
• Participate in the quality management process.

Qualifications

REQUIRED: All degrees must be from an accredited college or university.


- Master’s degree in a field related to grant writing or human services 
- Five years of successful experience in federal, state, and foundation grant

  writing and administration 
- Florida Driver’s License within 30 days of hire 

PREFERRED:


- Experience administering the grant writing process for a social services

  related non-for-profit agency 
- Experience with providing support, training, and supervision of the grant

  writing process

- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately 
- Effective verbal and written communications skills 
- Ability to travel throughout a geographical area 
- Ability to learn computer skills sufficient to perform all essential functions 
- Commitment to effectively and efficiently providing customer satisfaction with

  positive service delivery results 
- Excellent organizational skills 
- Ability to work in a diverse environment 
- Excellent interpersonal skills 
- Strong attention to detail 
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products 
- Excellent project management skills 
- Superior technical writing skills 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
NEEDED: driving, repetitive motions, sitting, standing, walking 
PREFERRED: bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, lifting up to 10 pounds, reaching overhead
