Assistant Director Engineering

This position provides support for the Director of Facilities. The position performs all duties of the Director when needed. Duties will flex and vary based upon department needs and Director assignments.

Core Competencies:
- Ensures the resources and functions that keep the building, grounds and equipment in repair to design specification
- Monitors effectiveness of current functions and projects ahead for future needs
- Hires and terminates to assure proper placement of resources
- Ensures the building and grounds meet regulatory agency requirements
- Ensures project implementation and compliance with standards and TMMC policies
- Serves as member of the hospital EOC Committee, Patient Safety/Patient Care Performance Improvement Committee, Disaster Committee, and other committees
- Assists with development and updating of department policies to ensure compliance with Joint Commission, National Patient Safety Goals and other regulatory agencies
- Keeps Director of Facilities informed

Education:
- Degree not specified as required

Experience:
- Five years experience in facilities management and engineering including supervisory experience
- Strong construction background or training in project management, building materials and systems, construction law, cost accounting
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, local standards and codes
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agency requirements
- Standard operating procedures for plant operation
- Budget development, control and direction
- Personnel management
- Knowledge of all engineering, computer, organizational systems
- Skills in interpersonal relationships and dynamics
- Understanding of systems thinking and performance improvement tools
