Job Description: Amherst College invites applications for the Associate Director of Women’s & Gender Center position. The Associate Director of Women’s & Gender Center is a full-time, year-round position. The expected range for this position is $72,202-79,802 per year. The Associate Director of the Women's and Gender Center (WGC) is a student-centered, collaborative, and equity-minded student affairs professional who is responsible for the center's student-facing initiatives related to gender and sexuality. Reporting to the Director of the Women's and Gender Center, the Associate Director assists the Director in the day-to-day management of the Center, including supervising student staff and managing the Center's physical and digital spaces. The Associate Director works collaboratively with the Director of the WGC and campus partners to develop and implement programs, services, and initiatives that support the personal, social, and academic success of students of all genders and sexualities. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: Program Development, Facilitation, and Assessment - Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive portfolio of programs and initiatives that center gender equity and justice, with a focus on intersectional approaches. - Collaborate with campus partners to develop and co-facilitate programs and workshops on topics related to gender, sexuality, and intersectionality. - Oversee the WGC's signature programs and initiatives, including the WGC's peer mentorship program, leadership development programs, and heritage month celebrations. - Facilitate trainings and workshops for student leaders, staff, and faculty on topics related to gender, sexuality, and intersectionality. Student Support and Development - Provide direct support and advising to students on issues related to gender, sexuality, and intersectionality. - Supervise, train, and mentor student staff and volunteers. - Serve as a resource and referral agent for students seeking support related to gender, sexuality, and intersectionality. - Advise student organizations related to gender and sexuality. Center Management and Operations - Assist the Director in the day-to-day management of the Center, including budget management, space reservations, and communications. - Oversee the WGC's physical and digital spaces, including the Center's website and social media presence. - Represent the WGC on campus committees and working groups. Qualifications: Required: - Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Gender Studies, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field. - 3-5 years of experience in student affairs, diversity and inclusion, or a related field, with a focus on gender and sexuality. - Demonstrated experience developing and implementing programs and initiatives related to gender, sexuality, and intersectionality. - Strong understanding of student development theory and best practices in supporting students of all genders and sexualities. - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Preferred: - Experience supervising student staff. - Experience with program assessment and evaluation. - Experience working in a small, liberal arts college setting.
