Compliance Manager

Caltech (California Institute of Technology) is seeking a Compliance Manager to join the Audit Services and Institute Compliance (ASIC) team. This full-time, on-site position is based in Pasadena, CA.

Salary Range: $142,800 - $150,000 per year

JOB SUMMARY:
The Compliance Manager plays an important role in strengthening compliance across Caltech's Campus and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). This individual leads and conducts compliance assessments, guides cross-functional working groups, and drives key initiatives that enhance institutional controls and ensure alignment with laws, regulations, contracts, and grants.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Manage and conduct compliance assessments in accordance with ASIC policies and the USSC Federal Sentencing Guidelines
- Manage or facilitate large, complex working groups and compliance projects with Institute-wide impact
- May manage advisory or special projects in accordance with Federal or State requirements
- Maintain metrics for Institute Compliance Program dashboards
- Manage compliance team assignments and perform work paper review
- Manage follow-up activities for compliance gaps at Campus and JPL
- Communicate results of compliance assessments via written deliverables and oral presentations to management
- Conduct investigations of suspected irregular conduct when necessary
- Provide guidance to compliance teams in identifying gaps and recommendations for improvement
- Assist in development of ASIC's annual risk assessment and Five-Year Compliance Assessment Plan
- Supervise personnel assigned to individual compliance projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, business, or related field
- Eight years of compliance and advisory experience
- Mastery of compliance and advisory services for large, complex technical and non-technical operations
- Comprehensive knowledge of laws, regulations, grants, and contracts
- Excellent analytical, project management, and organizational skills
- Strong ethical values and excellent communication skills
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (required for JPL work)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Eight years of compliance experience in higher education or aerospace
- Supervisory or management experience
