Development Director, Columbus

Overview

Susan G. Komen is seeking a Development Director, Columbus to lead a community-based fundraising team and drive revenue for the organization's mission to end breast cancer. This is a remote, home-based position; the candidate must reside within the Columbus, OH market area.

This is a player-coach role overseeing year-round fundraising programs, including the MORE THAN PINK Walk/Race for the Cure, while managing staff, corporate partnerships, and donor pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute year-round fundraising plans and budgets to meet revenue goals.
• Hire, train, and supervise community fundraising staff.
• Execute strategy and management for signature events (MORE THAN PINK Walk/Race for the Cure).
• Secure and manage high-dollar corporate partnerships; maintain a robust donor pipeline.
• Establish relationships with key constituents including donors, volunteers, and event committees.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and cross-functional national/regional teams.
• Drive accountability and motivate staff and volunteers to reach fundraising targets.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree required (Marketing, Communications, Business, or Nonprofit Management).
• Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in fundraising, special events, and team management.
• Fundraising Expertise: Demonstrated success in closing $1M in revenue through corporate sponsorship, peer-to-peer campaigns, and major gifts.
• Skills: Ability to close face-to-face solicitations; strong executive volunteer recruitment and management; excellent communication and presentation skills; project management proficiency.
• Requirements: Reliable transportation required; willingness to travel up to 30% and work evenings/weekends as needed. Must reside in the Columbus market area.

Compensation: $75,000 - $96,000 per year, based on experience and local labor market.
