Director, Government Relations

About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Vice President of Partnerships, the Director, Government Relations provides leadership in the development and execution of comprehensive legislative and governmental relations strategies that advance the College's mission, strategic plan, and institutional priorities. This role serves as the College's primary point of contact for federal, state (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania), regional, and local government entities and works collaboratively across the College to promote public policy initiatives that support student success, workforce development, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership in developing and implementing legislative and governmental relations strategies
- Advance the College's priorities with elected officials and government agencies
- Serve as liaison to the PA General Assembly, Governor's Office, and state agencies
- Advocate for public funding, appropriations, and policy initiatives supporting the College's mission
- Monitor, analyze, and report on relevant legislative and regulatory activity
- Brief senior leadership on legislative developments and policy trends
- Represent the College at government meetings, hearings, and public forums
- Coordinate advocacy and lobbying efforts in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Collaborate on communications and events related to government and community relations
- Participate in higher education associations and advocacy coalitions
- Align government relations initiatives with funding and strategic planning priorities

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree required
- 5+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, legislative affairs, or advocacy
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania legislative and regulatory processes
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and strategic planning skills
- Experience with appropriations, public funding, or policy advocacy
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
- Ability to travel as required
- Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and perspectives

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's degree in public administration, public policy, law, or political science
- Experience in higher education or public sector setting

Salary Range: $82,884 - $136,760 (Salary Grade 6)
Location: Main Campus, Philadelphia, PA
