Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience

The Director of Public Service Careers is a leader on the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement team at William & Mary. The Director is responsible for strategic program development, career advising, and programming for students pursuing public service careers including government, education, nonprofit, and public safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic development and administration of public service career programs (50%)
• Maintain knowledge of employment trends in government, nonprofit, education, and public safety
• Lead industry trips and excursions for students
• Career advising and programming (45%)
• Create and present workshops for career-related skills development
• Conduct individual and group career advising sessions
• Performance management and supervision of Assistant Director (5%)

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling or related field
• Significant experience in career services (typically 7+ years)
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of all public service career areas
• Experience with project and event management (typically 5+ years)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading a team and supervising staff
• Previous experience in centralized career services model
• Experience with career services management platforms
