Director, Resource Development

SMOC (SOUTH MIDDLESEX OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL)

$95,000 - $105,000

In collaboration with the executive leadership team, the Director of Development is responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi-year strategic development plan that supports the mission and long-term financial stability of the agency. The Director of Development oversees all fundraising activities, including donor relations, communications, community development and capital campaign initiatives.

This dynamic position requires a blend of leadership acumen, strategic thinking, and hands-on relationship building to cultivate significant financial support from individuals, corporations, and public/private foundations.

Primary Responsibilities:

General:
- Lead and develop diversified revenue streams including annual funds, planned giving, capital campaigns, grants, and special events
- Monitor fundraising trends, analyze performance data, and adjust strategies
- Participate in community relationship building, marketing, and digital communications
- Manage and track interactions using Salesforce and other donor databases

Major Donor Development:
- Serve as primary relationship manager for a portfolio of 50-150 top prospects and current donors
- Collaborate with CEO, Chief of Staff and Chief Business Officer on solicitation strategies
- Prepare compelling proposals, case statements, and customized gift agreements
- Solicit and close significant gifts in the four, five or six-figure range
- Develop multi-year strategies for sustainable funding

Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of development professionals
- Establish clear performance metrics (KPIs) for all team members

Community Development & Relations:
- Build and strengthen relationships with key community stakeholders
- Represent the organization at civic and community events
- Collaborate with Executive leadership and Board of Directors

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
- At least 5 years experience in non-profit fundraising and related program management
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a fundraising team
- Strong relationship building and communications skills
- Experience with full spectrum of development including major donor, grants, events, and donor stewardship
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Reports to: Chief Business Officer
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM, 35 hours per week

Salary: $95,000 - $105,000 annually
