The American Red Cross is seeking a professional, innovative and enthusiastic Executive Director for our Central and Northern NY Chapter, based in Syracuse, New York.
The Central & Northern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross serves the communities of Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Oneida, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
This Executive Director position is based in Liverpool, NY. This position involves very little operational responsibility. It is an external-facing, community relations position.
Reporting to the Regional Chief Executive Officer, the position serves as the primary liaison to the community supported by Community Volunteer Leaders and the Chapter Board. This position works alongside the volunteers and employees assigned to deliver mission fulfillment in the Region and Chapter and is a member of the Region Leadership Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as the Face of the Red Cross to maximize Red Cross presence and connectivity in the community
• Develop sustained community relationships to ensure capacity to achieve region mission goals
• Develop and manage the chapter board to effectively mobilize support and resources around the Red Cross mission
• Develop and manage community volunteer leaders
• Support achievement of region revenue targets and fundraising goals
• Serve as a member of the Elected Officials Liaison Network supporting disaster responses (may deploy for up to 2 weeks)
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Four-year college degree (BS/BA) in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Finance or non-profit administration required
• Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years related experience
• Demonstrated ability in fundraising, public speaking, writing, and building community relationships
• Strong communications and influencing skills
• Current valid driver's license required
• Travel required within communities served and region
