Finance Manager

MISSION-DRIVEN NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION

Manchester, CT, USA  (On-site)

A mission-driven organization is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and support organizational growth. This role is ideal for a collaborative, hands-on finance leader who thrives in an environment centered on service, community impact, and operational excellence.

Nonprofit experience is required. Medical or healthcare industry experience is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including AP/AR, payroll oversight, cash management, and general ledger maintenance
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
• Prepare financial statements, grant reports, dashboards, and board-level financial summaries
• Manage annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors
• Develop, monitor, and adjust annual budgets in partnership with leadership and department heads
• Implement and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support grant management, including tracking restricted funds and ensuring compliance with federal/state guidelines
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making
• Collaborate cross-functionally with program, HR, and operations teams to support financial best practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus)
• 3–7+ years of nonprofit finance/accounting experience — required
• Experience working with grants, restricted funding, and compliance frameworks
• Healthcare or medical industry financial experience — strong plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB, Uniform Guidance)
• Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP Fund Accounting, Sage Intacct)
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in a collaborative environment
