The Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) seeks a visionary President and CEO to lead one of the most distinctive cultural and educational institutions in New York State and the Northeast through a transformational period of growth. The President and CEO will move strategic and campus planning efforts from concept to implementation.
About the Organization:
RMSC is a cultural and educational institution comprising a museum, a renowned planetarium, and an 850-acre nature center. It stewards more than 1.2 million objects and artifacts, including the world's largest Seneca-Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) collection. For more than a century, RMSC has inspired curiosity through science, history, and the natural world, and it is now entering a transformational period of growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Advancing ambitious agendas for facilities, exhibits, collections stewardship, and the visitor experience.
Operational Management: Utilizing sound financial acumen to navigate complexity and achieve long-term priorities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Building trust and collaborating with the Board of Trustees, staff, donors, community leaders, and elected officials.
Advocacy: Serving as a powerful communicator and advocate for the institution's mission.
Qualifications:
Strategic judgment and sound financial acumen.
The ability to move ambitious initiatives from concept to execution.
A transparent and collaborative leadership style.
Strong communication skills to advocate for the RMSC to donors, staff, trustees, and public audiences.
A relationship-oriented approach, capable of building trust, valuing institutional expertise, and creating space for diverse perspectives while maintaining focus on the mission.
Compensation: $200,000 to $210,000, commensurate with experience.
