Recovery Grants Supervisor

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking a Recovery Grants Supervisor to lead and manage a comprehensive grant support and technical assistance program for communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.

ABOUT DEQ

The NC Department of Environmental Quality is the lead stewardship agency for the protection of North Carolina's environmental resources. DEQ administers regulatory programs designed to protect air quality, water quality, and the public's health.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position leads and manages a comprehensive grant support and technical assistance program that assists communities impacted by Hurricane Helene to secure funding for recovery. Key responsibilities include:

- Designing grant strategies and providing hands-on support to local governments and nonprofits
- Ensuring alignment with federal, state, and philanthropic funding requirements
- Overseeing multiple grant programs with effective, transparent, and compliant administration
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Monitoring subgrantee performance and developing corrective action plans as needed
- Designing and implementing strategies to identify funding opportunities
- Preparing internal and external reports on grant program performance
- Supervising staff responsible for program implementation

This position is Exempt from the Human Resources Act (EHRA) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. Full-time position (40 hours per week) with applicable State Benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of progressive experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

RECRUITMENT RANGE: $64,621 - $103,677

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays.

Eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
