Position Overview:
The Advocacy Manager/Senior Advocacy Manager will play an important role in directly advocating for federal policies that advance innovative clean energy technology, spur job creation, and support domestic manufacturing. This position requires direct experience in lobbying or climate/energy policy, the ability to establish and maintain a network of relationships with Republican policymakers, and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
This position will report to the Director of Advocacy.
Major Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain a network of Republican relationships with congressional offices and administration officials
• Lobby Republican congressional offices and administration officials for policy solutions supported by C2ES
• Support C2ES in efforts to mobilize companies, including Business Environmental Leadership Council (BELC) members
• Assist in identifying and executing campaigns that support C2ES's policy agenda
• Conceptualize and provide support for events and briefings for Members of Congress
• Proactively engage external stakeholders including trade associations, industry leaders, and NGOs
• Contribute to development and execution of the organization's policy advocacy strategy
• Stay current on developments relevant to C2ES's policy agenda
• Keep records of lobbying activities for LDA and IRS reports
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, environmental/energy policy, political science, or international affairs
• 4-7 years of experience working on climate or energy policy in a federal legislative setting (8 years for Senior Manager)
• Established relationships on Capitol Hill, with Republican offices and in both chambers of Congress
• Understanding of the legislative process
• A willingness to register as a lobbyist
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and with guidance
• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
• Commitment to advancing issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental/climate justice

Status: Full-time, benefits-eligible. Overtime exempt.
Starting Salary Range:
• Advocacy Manager: $81,000-$101,000
• Senior Advocacy Manager: $101,000-$126,000
(Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications)
Location: C2ES operates a hybrid work environment from our main office in Washington, D.C. For staff located in the Washington, D.C. region, physical presence in the office is expected at least two to three days per week. Washington, DC is the preferred location. Remote candidates will be considered.
