Chief Administrative Officer

INDIANA OFFICE OF TECHNOLOGY

Indianapolis, Indiana, USA  (On-site)

Up to $160,000 per year

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a key member of the Indiana Office of Technology's senior leadership team. Reporting to the State Chief Information Officer and IOT Agency Head, the CAO provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership across multiple enterprise-level functions, including finance, legal, workforce development, communications, and contract/licensing administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise key departments, including the CFO, General Counsel, Assistant Director of Strategic Workforce Development, Director of Communications, and Enterprise Licensing Management.
- Review organizational effectiveness, develop agency plans and resource strategies, and monitor IOT's budget and financial performance.
- Provide legal and policy interpretation, handle recruitment and staff development, and manage succession planning.
- Act as a liaison with the Governor's Office for media/public messaging and coordinate with federal, state, and local officials on technology policy initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

- A Master's degree in business, public administration, law, or a related discipline is preferred; however, a degree is not required if the candidate has 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in state government or large public-sector organizations; organizational development and strategic planning; enterprise licensing and contract management; and the ability to interpret complex regulations and lead cross-functional teams.
- Must demonstrate strategic leadership, financial and organizational acumen, legal and policy insight, strong communication skills, talent development, collaboration, and accountability.

SALARY

Up to $160,000 per year, commensurate with education and work experience.
