Chief Development Officer - Martha O'Bryan Center
    
    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a key leadership role responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of Martha O'Bryan Center’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The CDO works closely with The Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.
    
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.
    * Collaborate with the Board of Directors and CEO to create a fund development plan that increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization
    * Develop and implement a comprehensive written annual resource development plan with strategies for donors in each constituent group including: individuals, faith groups, organizations, corporations, and foundations
    * Oversee, in conjunction with the CEO and Development Committee, the development of a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the needs of the organization that will enable it to attract, retain and motivate donors and fundraising volunteers
    * Develop and implement, in conjunction with the CEO and Board of Directors, a comprehensive major gifts program and planned giving program
    * Develop and implement, in conjunction with the CEO and Board of Directors, capital campaign programs
    * Develop and implement an annual giving program, including solicitation and stewardship strategies
    * Oversee the management of all fundraising events, including developing and implementing strategies to maximize revenue and donor engagement
    * Oversee the management of the donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of all donors and prospects
    * Oversee the management of all grant proposals, including identifying and researching potential funding sources, writing and submitting proposals, and managing grant reporting requirements
    * Develop and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, including cultivating relationships, soliciting gifts, and stewarding donors
    * Oversee the management of all donor communications, including newsletters, appeals, and acknowledgements
    * Work with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization
    * Develop and manage the development budget, ensuring that all fundraising activities are conducted in a cost-effective manner
    * Oversee the management of the development staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff members
    * Stay abreast of fundraising trends and best practices, and make recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors for changes to the organization's fundraising program
    * Represent the organization at community events and meetings, and build relationships with key stakeholders in the community
    * Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO
    
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    * Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred
    * CFRE certification preferred
    * A minimum of 10 years’ experience in professional fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit organization
    * Demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
    * Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers/board of directors
    * Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
    * Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
    * Strong organizational skills
    * Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
    * Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Martha O’Bryan Center
    * High energy and passion for Martha O'Bryan Center's mission is essential
    * Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
    * Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
    * Customer service ethic
    * Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    * A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
    * Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends
    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software (e.g., Raiser's Edge)
