Deputy Director, Strategy, Planning & Management, Digital Public Infrastructure

The newly forming Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) strategy team focuses on foundational, reusable digital building blocks designed for the public benefit, enabling countries to deliver essential services across finance, health, and agriculture. YOUR ROLE The Deputy Director, Strategy, Planning & Management (DDSPM) supports the new Digital Public Infrastructure team. You will lead the strategic, financial, and operational aspects of the team; serving as an advisor to the director and providing the link between the team's strategy and business operations. WHAT YOU'LL DO Strategy Development & Refinement: - Define and articulate strategy and investment priorities for the DPI team - Lead annual strategy review process and content for co-chair/CEO meetings - Support tracking performance against results framework Strategy Execution & Operations: - Partner with program managers on annual planning, budget allocation, and pipeline management - Manage investment idea generation and advise on major grants - Develop and manage partnerships inside and outside the organization Team Development & People Management: - Lead the Strategy, Planning, and Management business team - Partner with HR to recruit, develop, and train staff - Support Director with workforce planning and team culture Travel up to 30% domestically and internationally. YOUR EXPERIENCE - 10+ years in international business strategy, business development, or general management - Background from top-tier consulting firms or as a general manager at a large international organization - Proven strength in systems thinking, structured problem solving, and strategic business planning - Experienced people manager with strong written and verbal communication skills - Interest in international development; experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or India preferred - Experience in digital for development domains preferred COMPENSATION Salary: $262,200 - $406,400 USD (Seattle/DC) | $238,400 - $369,400 USD (other locations)
