Development Specialist

NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART

$85,447 - $111,087 per year

The Development Office is responsible for securing private financial support to sustain and expand the Gallery's exhibitions, educational initiatives, conservation efforts, and other programs that advance the National Gallery of Art's mission.

Duties for this position include:
- Identify, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of foundation donors and prospects.
- Develop and implement strategic foundation giving plans in coordination with the Director of Strategic Giving to secure support for the National Gallery's fundraising priorities.
- Prepare foundation grant proposals for donors and prospects.
- Prepare progress reports for foundation donors which provide information on the impact and outcome of their giving.
- Produce correspondence for donor emails, letters, and gift acknowledgments.
- Collaborate with foundation prospects to assess their giving capabilities.
- Manage special projects and events to cultivate and steward foundation prospects.
- Work collaboratively with the Development Department to support fundraising efforts, internal and external to the Gallery.
- Provide centralized project management support to the development department by coordinating fundraising efforts for exhibition support.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level, with documented experience in front line fundraising, including preparing high-level foundation grant proposals, cultivating and managing a portfolio of foundation grants and prospects, and working across departments to achieve fundraising goals. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or a combination of education and experience, may also qualify.

Salary: $85,447 - $111,087 per year. Full-time, Permanent (privately funded position). Telework eligible. Travel up to 20% may be required.
