Director, Audit

The U.S. Center for SafeSport, a nonprofit focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport, seeks a Director of Audit to lead the compliance audit function. This remote role oversees audits of National Governing Bodies (NGBs) within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement to ensure adherence to federal law and organizational policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Audit Leadership: Direct daily operations of the NGB compliance audit program, set strategic vision, manage audit team operations (scoping, work paper review, and report approval), and manage audit budget and grant deliverables.

Collaboration: Coordinate with Compliance Development and NGB Support Services, evaluate NGB responses to findings, and align audit resources with educational and communication materials.

Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee team professional development, report on audit trends to leadership, and serve as a liaison with external organizations (NCAA, AAU, International Federations).

Strategy: Participate in Center-wide leadership initiatives and drive decision-making regarding audit standards and protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 5-7 years of experience in compliance auditing, regulatory oversight, or policy implementation; at least 4 years of supervisory/management experience; expertise in audit methodology and trauma-informed practices; strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in law, public policy, sport management, or related field; experience in sport governance (NGB structures) or nonprofit compliance; familiarity with MAAPP frameworks.

Salary: $118,615 - $130,000 per year
