Director, Infection Prevention

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced Director, Health System Infection Prevention to provide strategic leadership for infection prevention and control across the enterprise. Responsibilities

• Strategy & Alignment: Develop and execute system-wide infection prevention strategies aligned with Performance Excellence and High Reliability principles; standardize policies across inpatient and ambulatory settings.
• Performance Monitoring: Oversee system-wide infection metrics (CLABSI, CAUTI, SSI, etc.) and identify variations to drive targeted interventions.
• Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, The Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.
• Operations & Surveillance: Manage standardized surveillance methodologies, data accuracy, and evidence-based practice implementation (e.g., hand hygiene, isolation protocols).
• Emergency Preparedness: Lead system-wide outbreak/exposure management and pandemic surge response.
• Leadership & Development: Mentor Infection Prevention Managers and staff, establish competency standards, and provide executive leadership with insights on performance risks.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Experience: 10 years of progressive experience in infection prevention, epidemiology, or quality improvement (or 7 years with a Master's degree), including at least 5 years leading professionals in complex, matrixed healthcare environments.
• Certifications (preferred): MT (ASCP) or M (ASCP); Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or Associate Infection Prevention and Control (A-IPC) required within 2 years of hire.
