Executive Director

The Executive Director of the Taylor Museum of Waco & McLennan County History serves as the museum's chief executive officer, partnering with the Board of Directors to provide strategic leadership, ensure sound fiscal and operational management, oversee collections and programs, and advance the museum's mission to preserve and share the history of Waco and McLennan County.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Governance: Provide strategic vision, implement board policies, and serve as an ex officio advisor to the Board of Directors.
- Fiscal Management: Manage the annual operating budget, ensure financial compliance, and oversee administrative functions like payroll and insurance.
- Fundraising and Development: Lead all development activities, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and special events.
- Collections and Exhibitions: Oversee stewardship of collections, curate exhibitions, and manage educational programs.
- Operations and Facilities: Manage daily museum operations, building maintenance, and safety/security compliance.
- Staff Management: Hire and supervise employees and volunteers while maintaining a mission-driven culture.
- Community Engagement: Serve as the primary public spokesperson and build partnerships with local organizations and governments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in history, museum studies, or nonprofit management preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in museums or nonprofit management, including supervision.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising/donor cultivation, strong financial management and budgeting skills, and project management abilities.
- Knowledge of or interest in the history and culture of Waco/McLennan County; excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and high integrity.
