Finance Director

Salary $100,000 - $110,000 a year

Asolo Rep in Sarasota, the largest professional not-for-profit theater in the Southeastern United States, is hiring a Finance Director. The job is on the senior leadership team and reports to Managing Director Ross Egan. The Finance Director leads financial planning, accounting, reporting and internal controls, and advises the Managing Director and the board on the long-range financial health of the institution. Asolo Rep presents up to ten productions a season, reaches more than 100,000 patrons a year and is affiliated with the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.

What you will do

• Build multi-year financial plans and scenario models for season planning, capital projects and endowment strategy
• Lead the annual budget with the Managing Director and department heads, track budget to actual, and prepare forecasts and cash flow projections
• Oversee the general ledger, payables, receivables and month-end close, and prepare GAAP financial statements using not-for-profit fund accounting
• Present monthly financial reports to the Managing Director, the board and the Finance Committee
• Manage the annual independent audit and the Form 990, and work directly with auditors, banks and investment managers
• Track grants, restricted funds and the endowment, and reconcile contributed revenue with the Development department
• Work with Human Resources on payroll, the 403(b) and 457(b) plans and workers' compensation, and manage the theater's business insurance
• Supervise the Staff Accountant and Business Associate, and staff the board's finance, facility and endowment campaign task forces

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent experience; a CPA or MBA is preferred
• Five to seven years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including supervision
• Not-for-profit fund accounting experience; performing arts experience is preferred
• Experience managing independent audits and presenting financial information to boards, finance committees or senior leaders
• Advanced Excel and accounting or ERP software; Financial Edge and Tessitura are a plus

The salary is $100,000 to $110,000 a year, and the job is full time and exempt.
