POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Officer will work within the Education Program to advance a strategy focused on strengthening human connections and expanding rich learning experiences for all students, particularly those furthest from opportunity. The role involves shaping and implementing strategies while engaging with a diverse set of partners across the education ecosystem during a time of strategic evolution for the foundation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Education Program Director and team to shape and implement program strategy
- Engage with districts, states, and networks to improve instructional practice and connect schools with civic institutions, community organizations, and employers
- Build non-partisan coalitions committed to improving public education at scale
- Collaborate with colleagues on priorities like teacher preparation, school leadership, and leveraging enabling environments (e.g., policy and artificial intelligence)
- Build strong relationships with school and systems leaders to improve instructional practice
- Identify high-leverage strategies to close the gap between aspiration and implementation in public education
QUALIFICATIONS
- Deep knowledge of public education, ideally grounded in firsthand experience in schools and school systems
- Understanding of how to cohere and align instructional practice, community/systems leadership, and cross-sector partnerships
- Knowledge and experience with educational implementation at the state, district, and school levels
- Experience with efforts to connect schools and communities, such as career-connected learning and civic-learning
- Ability to identify high-leverage strategies to close the gap between aspiration and implementation in public education
