Senior Director, Compliance and Health Information - CHS

The Senior Director of Compliance and Health Information is responsible for minimizing CHS' exposure to unnecessary risk, managing the medical records and compliance departments, and coordinating the development of division-wide policies and procedures. This is a pivotal leadership position to help CHS navigate risks attendant to innovation as the division embarks on bold new initiatives.
About NYC Health + Hospitals: The largest public health care system in the nation, operating 11 hospitals, trauma centers, neighborhood health centers, nursing homes, post-acute care centers, and correctional health services, serving 1.4 million New Yorkers annually across the city's five boroughs.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the Compliance department to ensure obligations are timely met with regulatory agencies and oversight bodies, coordinate responses to monitoring teams and outside agencies, and collaborate with department leadership on legal and compliance issues.
- Manages the Medical Records department, identifies systems improvements, and implements initiatives to modernize workflows and enhance accountability.
- Designs and implements a division-wide risk management function to assess, monitor, and minimize departmental vulnerabilities.
- Creates internal control policies to prepare programs for internal and external audits.
- Researches, analyzes, and advises CHS executive leadership on relevant rules and regulations.
- Communicates strategically with oversight entities in coordination with CHS, H+H, and City leadership.
- Develops and maintains division-wide policies and procedures in partnership with senior administrative and clinical leadership.
- Develops and implements mechanisms for timely, accurate, and coordinated responses to information requests.
- Coordinates the CHS Quality Management Program, including quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Care Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related discipline, plus 7 years of progressively responsible experience in health/medical service administration or related fields; or
- Bachelor's degree in the above disciplines plus 8 years of relevant progressively responsible experience; or
- A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience (minimum of a Bachelor's degree required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA and medical records requirements.
- Experience in healthcare operations, policy analysis, quality management, or program management.
- Demonstrated experience providing regulatory, compliance, or risk-management advice to leadership.
- Experience working with government agencies, regulatory bodies, or oversight entities in a highly regulated healthcare or public sector environment.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
