Senior Director, Philanthropy

Suffolk University seeks a Senior Director, Philanthropy to significantly enhance the university's fundraising capabilities. As a key member of the Advancement Division, this role leads efforts to fundraise for Principal and Major Gifts, the Summa Giving Program ($1k+), and Planned Giving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Recruit, train, and inspire fundraising staff, providing direction and coaching based on best practices in soliciting major, principal, and planned gifts
- Establish and monitor specific revenue goals and performance targets for the front-line fundraising program
- Conduct at least 75 face-to-face meetings annually, aiming to close 10-15 significant gifts generating $2-3 million+ in annual revenue
- Manage a focused portfolio of 75-100 principal, major, and planned gift prospects
- Lead all phases of the gift cycle in close coordination with the Vice President of Advancement
- Work collaboratively across the Division of Advancement and university departments to foster a culture of philanthropy

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred
- 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in university advancement
- Proven track record in securing major, principal, and planned gifts
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills
- Creative thinker with the capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously

Salary Range: $153,671 - $256,119
