Position Overview: Director of Finance - Foundation

The Director of Finance for the Foundation is tasked with steering operational functions, providing strategic oversight, and ensuring the financial integrity of the Health's Foundation. This role is pivotal in maintaining compliance with both state and federal regulations and acts as a vital liaison between the foundation and the hospital system. Although classified at the Director level, the position necessitates a hands-on managerial approach, requiring the individual to engage directly with financial data and demonstrate flexibility in meeting operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process Improvement: Analyze and refine job designs, workflows, and operational processes to enhance effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency, aligning them with departmental objectives.

• Professional Development: Remain informed of industry advancements and trends through seminars, workshops, and professional literature. Actively participate in professional organizations and maintain relevant certifications to incorporate new knowledge into current practices.

• Compliance and Internal Controls: Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable regulations, policies, and laws. Design and implement internal controls that ensure adherence to legal requirements and accreditation standards.

• Budget Management: Develop and oversee the annual budget to ensure the department is appropriately funded to achieve its established goals and objectives.

• Goals and Objectives: Formulate, implement, and regularly assess annual departmental goals that align with the foundation's mission.

• Team Leadership: Select, train, and supervise departmental staff, fostering their professional growth. Evaluate team performance and recommend disciplinary actions to maximize individual and group effectiveness.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent relationship-building skills
• Analytical Competence: Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making

• Accounting Acumen: In-depth knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting practices, and internal controls
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required. Master's degree highly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of seven years in a financial leadership role, with at least four years in the non-profit sector.
• Required: Non-profit sector experience, Foundation experience, Healthcare experience (particularly in large hospital settings), Grants management experience
