Salary: $175,000 annually

Travel: 30-40% required

Join the Advancement department of the country's leading grassroots environmental organization. The Sierra Club is running campaigns to address climate change, protect wilderness and wildlife, and advance healthier communities rooted in justice and equity.

As Managing Director, Major Gifts, West, you will be part of a dynamic major gifts team raising upwards of $65 million for high-impact campaigns from individual donors, family foundations, and institutional funders within the Western region. This role is responsible for direct fundraising efforts of $25,000 or greater, as well as team management for Western region Major Gifts staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive strategies to identify, cultivate, upgrade, and solicit retained and new donors with capacity to give $100,000+
• Serve as primary relationship manager for a portfolio of approximately 100 current and prospective supporters
• Manage and mentor a team of gift officers and associates (3-6 direct reports)
• Create annual fundraising goals and strategy in partnership with Advancement Leadership
• Work with research team, local leadership, and departmental staff to identify prospects and develop solicitation strategies
• Design and implement donor outreach efforts to diversify the major donor base

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated success in development and major gift fundraising, including cultivation and solicitation of six-figure gifts or greater
• Success managing and mentoring major gift officers with demonstrated fundraising growth
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with fundraising databases (Salesforce a plus)

Sierra Club sponsors both nonimmigrant and immigrant visas when certain criteria are met. Valid driver's license required.
