The Director of Strategic Initiatives serves as a key strategic partner to the Chair of Medicine, providing high-level strategic and operational leadership to advance the mission, goals, and values of the Department of Medicine. Reporting directly to the Chair, the Director works closely with senior departmental leaders to shape, execute, and monitor the Chairs strategic priorities across clinical care, research, education, and faculty development. This role is pivotal in driving organizational change, fostering innovation, and ensuring the long-term success of the Department.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the Chair and departmental leadership to develop, implement, and refine the Departments strategic plan. Translate strategic priorities into actionable initiatives, set clear goals and metrics, and monitor progress. Facilitate strategic planning processes, retreats, and workshops.
Project Management and Implementation: Lead and manage key strategic projects and initiatives, from conception to completion. Develop project plans, allocate resources, manage timelines, and ensure successful outcomes. Provide project oversight and support to departmental teams.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Gather, analyze, and interpret data to inform strategic decision-making and measure performance against strategic goals. Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and presentations to the Chair and departmental leadership.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key liaison between the Chair and internal/external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, hospital partners, and university leadership. Communicate the Chairs vision and strategic priorities effectively and build strong relationships.
Change Management and Organizational Development: Support the Chair in leading change initiatives within the Department. Identify opportunities for organizational improvement, streamline processes, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Financial Analysis and Resource Allocation: In partnership with the Department's finance team, analyze financial data, develop business plans for new initiatives, and support resource allocation decisions to align with strategic priorities.
Faculty Development and Engagement: Work with departmental leadership to develop and implement programs and initiatives to support faculty development, mentorship, and engagement.
Meeting and Event Management: Organize and facilitate key meetings, retreats, and events related to the Departments strategic initiatives.
Special Projects: Undertake special projects and assignments as directed by the Chair.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of related experience. Master’s preferred
