Columbia University's Department of Radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) seeks a strategic financial leader for the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) position. This role reports directly to the Department Administrator/Chief Administrative Officer and oversees all budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analytical functions across the Department's clinical care, research, and education missions.
The Director serves as the primary financial lead for two imaging joint ventures with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, playing a critical role in financial strategy, operational decision support, and long-range planning for one of the largest and most complex clinical departments at CUIMC.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead development and management of annual operating and capital budgets for all departmental missions
• Prepare multi-year financial plans, forecasts, and scenario analyses
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Produce comprehensive financial reports across clinical, research, and education portfolios
• Develop and maintain analytic tools and models for decision-making
• Serve as financial lead for two imaging joint ventures with the hospital
• Manage budgets, forecasts, monthly reporting, and capital planning for joint ventures
• Advise leadership on financial strategy, resource allocation, and long-term planning
• Lead financial modeling for new programs, faculty recruitment, and equipment acquisitions
• Manage and develop a high-performing FP&A team
• Oversee purchasing and accounts payable functions
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
• 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning, budgeting, or analysis
• Demonstrated experience in complex academic medical centers or healthcare finance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven leadership experience managing teams
• Exceptional communication skills
Preferred: Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPH), experience with academic clinical departments, research administration, university financial systems, or joint-venture structures.
